CHARISTINE & DYLAN | AVANI SEPANG GOLDCOAST
It took us approximately 3 months to plan this wedding from scratch together with the families of the couple and the team from Avani Resort. Charistine specifically wanted orange, purple and yellow as the colour theme while her father Pak Gan wanted us to incorporate Chinese and tropical elements with a retro, Malaysian beach vibe. As the owner of the resort, Park Gan reminded us over and over again that the wedding needed to reflect the aesthetics of Avani Sepang and the countryside of kampung Bagan Lalang while keeping some Chinese traditions. This wedding went through many rounds of revisions within the 3 months of planning before it was finalised to what it was on the actual day with inputs by parents, Charistine’s uncle, aunties and cousins. Avani Resort spared no expense in ensuring the resort was ready to welcome its guests. This secluded resort which is usually a quiet hideaway, turned into a bright festive oriental atmosphere reminiscent of a Chinese village during an auspicious celebration. Along the driveway from the entrance gates to the porte-cochère, we installed thousands of lights on the trees, hedges, plants and grounds along the driveway. Hotel lobby was decked up with bougainvilleas and a large double happiness installed above the water fountain. Live musicians entertained as guests arrived for their check-in. The iconic palm tree trunk road that extends 70m was decorated with Chinese lanterns and fairy lights along with landscaping, repainting and up-keeping of facilities. Two dining outlets were also decorated with bright pink and purple flowers. As a contrast against the indoor setting, the beach deck was a modern take on a tropical 80s theme with a few nostalgic elements such as cendol catered from their hometown Kg Jenjarom, tikam-tikam reminiscent of childhood games, kacang putih stall and tok tok candy. It was truly the epitome of a big fat Asian wedding.
