LAVINNE & SOREN | GARDEN IN THE SKY
There’s no denying that this wedding is absolutely gorgeous and one-of-a-kind, considering that it’s also the very first wedding held at Marini’s on 57. Soren and Lavinne are a cool couple who loves life and really knows how to have a good time and this modern, stylish and unconventional venue is simply the perfect fit to their personality. At first visit, it seemed almost impossible to host a sit-down dinner of 200 people at this venue. The restaurant is built with a circular architecture, split into 3 different rooms that are connected through the outdoor lounge. We decided on using 2 rooms for the dinner reception and the 3rd room, i.e. the bar for the pre-dinner cocktail and after party. Working with the existing interior of the space, we called it the “Diamond” and “Platinum” rooms, ensuring that the theme was carried through the decoration and details.
For the Diamond room, we worked with white and silver, clean lines with a crisp finish. For the Platinum room, black and gilded gold candlelabras filled the room with a slightly more ornate yet masculine finishing. It was like Ying and Yang. Yet, we needed to sure that even with the difference in colours, the overall wedding style still flowed through as one. Subtle details that may not be noticeable included the menu cards, which at first glance looks the same but one is with gold lining while the other is with a silver lining. For Lavinne and Soren, white symbolizes faith while black embodies elegance.
The outdoor lounge served as the venue for the wedding ceremony, just 2 hours before the dinner. With an astro turf and a green hedged wall, Lavinne and Soren recited their vows against the towering, iconic Petronas Twin Towers as the backdrop. After that it was canapés and champagne with a majestic sunset view of the KL city skyline. Eventhough this wedding was held several years ago, the timeless design still looks relevant today.
