ALLISON & PATRICK | A WEEKEND IN MALACCA
When your roots are embedded in identifying with more than one culture, couples are often faced with the challenge of blending different traditions into one gorgeous wedding. The wedding of Allison and Patrick is one that managed to successfully inject various cultural details and family heritage over a wedding weekend in the historical town of Malacca. The first day kicked off with a welcome dinner at Hotel Puri at Jonker Street. The following morning started early with the Chinese part of wedding – bridal fetch and games followed by tea ceremony. In the evening, guests adjourned to Casa Del Rio for a Baba Nyonya buffet reception by the river. At the end of the dinner, guets were taken by surprise with a boat ride along Melaka river and then a trishaw ride back to the hotel through the small alleys and historical streets. On the 3rd day, a buddhist blessing ceremony was held at Hotel Puri, followed by a visit to a Chinese temple for prayers. The wedding celebrations ended with a grand cultural wedding reception at Hatten Hotel. Auspicious lions greeted the guests as they arrived, and the dinner saw a full 3-hour variety show of cultural performances by Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Melaka, an big band performance of evergreen Malay songs, jazz performance by Danz Entertainment and afterparty music by DJ Fullscale.
